HOW TO MAKE A FLOWER POP UP CARD

HOW TO MAKE A STUNNING FLOWER POP UP BOX

I MADE A FLOWER POP UP CARD THAT EVERYONE LOVED AND LOTS OF PEOPLE WANTED ME TO SHOW THEM HOW TO MAKE ONE, THERE ARE LOTS OF PHOTOS BUT WANTED YOU TO GET A GOOD IDEA OF HOW TO MAKE ONE, SO PLEASE FORGIVE THE LONG BLOG AND I HOPE YOU FIND IT WORTH WHILE AND ENJOY IT.

HERE ARE A COUPLE I HAD MADE AND THESE ARE THE LARGE POP UP CARDS

I'M GOING TO MAKE A SMALL POP UP CARD, YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN CARD FROM A A4 CARDSTOCK OR BUY SOME FROM www.craftworkcards.co.uk   Pop-Up Box Cards
LOVELY AND FAST TO USE AS EVERYTHING IS PRE SCORED FOR YOU

I MEASURED THE PANELS TO CUT MY PAPER TO SIZE

BOTTOM PANELS MEASURE 5CM ACROSS AND 8CM HIGH X 4
SMALL PANELS 5CM ACROSS AND 6 1/2 CM  HIGH X 3 AND CUT THEM ALL OUT. I LIKE TO MOUNT MINE ON MATCHING PAPER TO MAKE THEM STAND OUT

STICK 3 OF THE LAGRE PANELS TO  THE LOWER 3 PANELS, DON'T STICK ANYTHING ON THE  LONG PANEL, THATS THE BACK OF THE CARD

MAKE SURE YOU FOLD THE TOP 3 SMALL PANELS DOWN AND STICK THE PAPERS ON TOP OF THEM, ADD THE LAST LARGE PANEL TO THE EMPTY PANEL, GLUE THE FLAP TO THE BACK PANEL AND YOU SHOULD END UP WITH A BOX LOOKING LIKE THIS

YOU NEED TO CUT TWO STRIPS OF CARDSTOCK APPROX 7 1/2CM LONG, FOLD THE ENDS IN AT BOTH ENDS 1CM EACH, FOLD ONE WAY AT ONE END AND THE OPPOSITE WAY AT THE OTHER END SO YOU END UP WITH A Z SHAPE

PUT WET GLUE ON BOTH ENDS AND STICK INSIDE THE BOX, STICK ONE END IN AND CLOSE THE BOX FLAT THE OTHER END WILL GLUE TO THE OTHER SIDE WITH EASE AND IN THE RIGHT PLACE, NOW STICK THE SECOND ONE IN BEHIDE THE FIRST ONE

CUT TWO LENGTHS OF CARDSTOCK ( A GOOD WEIGHT ONE 300G) CUT THEM THIN AT ONE END SO THEY SLIP INSIDE THE BOX AND MAKE THEM WIDER AT THE TOP ( SLIGHTLY WIDER THAN THE BACK PANEL

MAKE SURE THE BACK ONE IS SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN THE FRONT ONE

PLACE 3-4 FLOWERS ON THE BACK SHEET NEAR THE TOP

PUT THE SECOND CARDSTOCK ON TOP OF THE OTHER JUST BELOW THE FLOWERS

ARRANGE THE OHER FLOWERS  TO GET A NICE A SHAPE

GLUE THE BACK CARD WITH THE 3 FLOWERS TO THE BACK STRIP

GLUE THE SECOND CARDSTOCK WITH YOUR GLUED FLOWERS TO THE FRONT STRIP

ADD A BLOOM TO THE FRONT OF THE BOX AND I ADDED SOME WASHI TAPE TO THE PANELS

NOW TO MAKE THE FLOWERS AND GREENERY, I USED A FEW DIES THAT I WILL SHOW YOU AT THE END, THIS IS A SUE WILSON DIE, I CUT OUT FELT, VELLUM AND CORE'NATIONS CARD/PAPER

THIS  FELT IS FROM CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS AND IS REALLY LOVELY TO WORK WITH, IT GLUES PREFECTLY AND HOLDS IT SHAPE WHERE THE OTHERS DON'T. AND NO I'M NOT ON THEIR DESIGN TEAM LOL. I CUT INTO THE BLOOM TO MAKE THE PETALS

ADDED SOME WET GLUE TO THE TIP OF THE PETAL

SQUEEZE THE TIP TOGETHER

SO YOU END UP WITH THIS

THIS IS HOW YOUR FLOWER WILL LOOK AT THE END

THIS IS ONE OF THE BLOOMS FROM THE BRENDA WALTON FLOWER STRIP DIE (ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITES, SO MANY BLOOMS FROM ONE DIE

THIS IS HOW I MADE ONE OF THE FLOWERS, I PICK AND MIXED DIFFERENT SHAPE BLOOMS, VELLUM. FELT AND CARD/PAPER, I LIKE TO LAY THEM OUT TO GET AN IDEA OF WHAT WILL WORK AND LOOK GOOD TOGETHER

ONCE I'M HAPPY I STICK THEM TOGETHER, YOU CAN USE COSMIC GLUE, PINFLAIR GLUE OR A GLUE GUN

YOU THEN HAVE TO SHAPE YOUR FLOWER TO GIVE IT SOME LIFE

PLACE IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND AND USE A PENCIL/PEN TO PUSH DOWN IN THE CENTRE OF THE FLOWER AND TWIST IT AROUND

MAKE SURE TO PUT SOME PRESURE ON IT AND SQUEEZE  THE BLOOM IN

THIS IS HOW YOUR BLOOM WILL LOOK. FOR THE CENTRE I USED A TINY CIRCLE OF PAPER AND SCREWED IT IN ON ITSELF

TO SHAPE YOUR FLOWERS, USE A POKER TOOL OR A KEBAB STICK, REALLY MAKES THE FLOWERS LOOK SO MUCH BETTER THAN JUST BEING FLAT

I HAVE SHAPED ALL THE PETALS. LAID THEM OUT AND PICKED THE ONES I WANT TO USE

LAY THE BLOOMS UP AND ONCE YOU ARE HAPPY. GLUE TOGETHER

I LIKE TO CUT A GOOD LOT OF BLOOMS OUT IN DIFFERENT COLOURS SO I HAVE A GOOD CHOOSE AND LOTS TO PLAY WITH

THEN I SIT AND MAKE LOADS LOL

FOLIAGE
THIS DIE IS FROM TATTERED LACE AND IT HAS STUNNING LEAVES IN IT, I LIKE TO CUT A GOOD LOT TO FILL IN THE BOUQUET

MAKE SURE TO GLUE THE LEAVES IN BETWEEN THE BLOOMS AND COVER ANY OF THE CARDSTOCK THAT MIGHT BE SHOWING

THIS IS THE BLOOM AT THE FRONT OF THE BOX AND I LIKE TO FILL IT OUT WITH GREENERY FLOWING DOWN FROM IT

MAKE SURE TO PUT GREENERY BEHIND THE TOP BACK ROW FLOWERS AND BEHIND THE SECOND ROW OF BLOOMS

MAKE SURE IT LOOKS FULL

HERE ARE SOME CLOSE UPS SO YOU CAN SEE HOW FULL IT IS

THIS IS THE BACK OF THE BACK PANEL OF THE BLOOMS THAT ISN'T VERY NEAT

SO I ADDED A DOLLIE TO COVER IT

ON THE BACK PANEL I ADDED SOME PEARL LIQUIDS AROUND THE EDGE AND ADDED SOME BUTTERFLIES IN MATCHING PAPERS

ON THE SIDE PANELS I ADDED A LEAF AND A VELLEM FLOWER BUT YOU CAN ADD CHARMS SENTIMENTS WHATEVER YOU WANT

I ADDED PEARL DROPS TO THE CENTRES BUT YOU CAN ADD BUTTONS, BRADS OR GEMS, COVER YOUR FLOWERS IN GLITTER TO MAKE THEM SPARKLE, THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER

CLOSE UP OF THE BLOOM

AND THIS IS WHAT YOUR POP UP FLOWER BOX WILL LOOK LIKE

I HOPE THIS HAS MADE YOU WANT TO MAKE ONE, REMEMBER YOU CAN USE ANYTHING AND ANY COLOUR, GO WILD AND HAVE FUN, LET ME KNOW IF YOU MAKE ONE I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT.

DIES USED,CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS SUE WILSOM CLASSIC ROSE DIE, TATTERED LACE ORNATE FOLIAGE AND SIZZIX BRENDA WALTON FLOWER STRIP DIE

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO LEAVE A COMMENT AS I REALLY DO LOVE TO READ THEM, THANK YOU SO MUCH LOVE LISE XXXXX
